French-based Cloud Gaming publisher Blacknut has announced a new partnership with NOS, the most extensive communications and entertainment group in Portugal, to bring the "first dedicated cloud gaming experience" to Portugal.
This partnership is part of NOS's official 5G deployment strategy. Teaming up with Blacknut, NOS will be offering cloud gaming demo's in stores for customers to try out. Once NOS's 5G network launches in Portugal, they will deliver Blacknut's cloud gaming service directly to their customers.
"This exclusive partnership with Blacknut proves the commitment of NOS to offer its customers the most innovative entertainment services of the market. The focus on bringing this pioneering cloud gaming technology offer to Portugal enables to reveal the countless possibilities of the 5G networks." - Daniel Beato, Executive Board Member of NOS.
NOS is currently leading the implementation of the 5G network in Portugal. 5G, which brings significantly faster speeds than the current 4G standard, is ideal for cloud gaming. Cloud gaming requires speedier internet speeds with lower latency, and 5G can provide that over mobile antennas.
"Blacknut's ability to help our partners quickly launch cloud gaming service without the need to invest in their own infrastructure or spend time building their own library of licensed games was a key factor in NOS choosing to partner with us. This new launch with NOS in Portugal is a great example of how 5G will bring new opportunities for mobile operators to deliver gaming and content alongside their core services." - Olivier Avaro, CEO of Blacknut.
Blacknut continues to partner with ISP's to bring Cloud Gaming to the masses. Recently, they struck a partnership with A1 to bring cloud gaming to Austria.
Blacknut is a subscription-based cloud gaming service similar to how Amazon Luna offers channels. However, Blacknut only has one subscription, and they have over 500 playable games for a single monthly fee!
