However, buried within the Xbox/Bethesda showcase recap, Microsoft mentions that they will be utilizing Xbox Cloud Gaming to bring next-gen exclusives to your eight-year-old console.
That's right, thanks to the technology of cloud gaming, Xbox One owners will most likely be able to experience next-gen specific games on their older console.
"We're excited to see developers realise their visions in ways that only next-gen hardware will allow them to do. For the millions of people who play on Xbox One consoles today, we are looking forward to sharing more about how we will bring many of these next-gen games, such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, to your console through Xbox Cloud Gaming, just like we do with mobile devices, tablets, and browsers." - Will Tuttle, Xbox Wire Editor in Chief
Thanks to a recent upgrade to Xbox Cloud Gaming tech, gamers playing games on the cloud will soon be able to play Xbox Series X|S optimized games, and soon Xbox Series X|S exclusives on any device.
With this quote, we can see that Microsoft plans to extend the life of the older Xbox One console and stay to their word of making the Xbox Ecosystem truly multi-platform, not requiring people to purchase a new console.
It sounds like they will be starting with games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator and then branch out to other games from there. Will we see an Xbox Cloud Gaming exclusive app on the Xbox One? Or will they appear to be normal games that utilize Cloud Gaming when you launch them?
I am excited to find out!
