Codemasters, the creators behind the Dirt games and the official F1 games, has secured the official WRC license from 2023 to 2027. This was initially reported by GameIndustry.

This is a massive win for Codemasters, as they have been creating rally games for years. Beginning with the Colin McRae Rally Series games, which are now the Dirt games. This will allow for Codemasters to possibly use the tech that is in the critically acclaimed Dirt Rally series with all the World Rally Championship vehicles and trails.

As an avid Dirt Rally fan, this makes me rather excited to see what game they bring to the table in 2024!

Even with the win of the WRC license, Codemasters remains committed to the Dirt series and that "The Dirt Rally team is already working on their next project ahead of the WRC agreement in 2023."

I wonder if this will allow them to add WRC cars to the Dirt series now? Or maybe even merge the two franchises?
