With only three days remaining until Cyberpunk 2077 launches to the masses, you can preload the game.
Preloading the game will give you a headstart when the game goes live on December 10th. It will cut down the time needed to download the game on release day. However, there will most likely be a day one patch that you will need to install.
One YouTuber, DreamcastGuy, who obtained the Xbox version of the game before launch due to retailer error, mentions, on Twitter, that the game has already received a 43.5GB Patch before the actual launch date.
In response to DreamcastGuy, CD Projekt Red's Fabian replied that this patch is not the day one patch. Instead, it is more like a day zero patch.
"It's an update but - fun twist - not the update we'll have for launch." — Fabian Mario Döhla (@fabiandoehla) December 3, 2020
Although this is for the Xbox version of the game, it makes me wonder if the 70GB required space mentioned on GOG's website for PC includes this pre-launch patch, or if the PC version of the game will get even larger before the game launches on December 10th.
It is also worth mentioning that the preload is currently only available for GOG's launcher. It has not been noted if other platforms offering pre-orders have allowed gamers to start pre-loading the game.
Another fun mention for those that have preloaded the game, if you attempt to play the game before the December 10th release date, Johnny Silverhand will tell you that it is not December 10th yet.
