Cyberpunk 2077's latest 1.1 patch adds a game-breaking bug

Recently CD Projekt Red released a patch for their recent RPG, Cyberpunk 2077. The patch, labeled 1.1, is one of many patches meant to help fix the game to make it "better."

However, even if the patch has fixed other significant bugs and issues, it appears that the update also introduced yet another game-breaking bug.

What is the bug, you ask?

Well, it involves the quest "Down on the Street." This quest, which is part of the main story quest, requires that V meets with a critical NPC in the game, Takemura, at the Channel Street docks in Japantown.

During the quest, you are to wait to receive a holocall from Takemura. However, since patch 1.1, many players are reporting that this holocall is broken. When players answer the call, Takemura will remain silent, staring at V.

Unfortunately, this bug prevents the player from continuing in the main story quest. This bug is yet another bug that is frustrating players.

Possible Workaround?

CD Projekt Red is currently aware of the issue, and they are looking into a fix. In the meantime, they did issue a possible workaround on their support site. Do note that this workaround requires a save before the bug has occurred.

Per the guide:

  • Load a game save before Takemura and V leave Wakako's office.
  • Finish the conversation with Takemura outside the office right away.
  • Right after the finished conversation and when the quest was updated, skip 23h.
  • See if the holocall triggers and the dialogue with Takemura starts.

A few reports on Reddit state that this workaround did not work. But, this is the only possible workaround currently known.

As of this moment, CD Projekt Red is looking into the issue, but no known timeline has been given for when this game-breaking bug will be fixed.
