Epic Games acquires Fall Guys studio, Mediatonic

It looks like Mediatonic will be joining an epic family. Announced initially on Fall Guys Twitter, Mediatonic will be joining the Epic Games family, as Epic Games acquires the developer.

In a blog post over on Mediatonic's official website, Mediatonic states that "With our publisher Devolver Digital supporting and championing us along the way with Fall Guys, Foul Play and Hatoful Boyfriend, we've been able to bring some truly unique experiences to players as an independent studio. Joining forces with Epic will accelerate our plans to improve the game and bring Fall Guys to as many players as possible, while continuing to support the community."

The post goes on to list a few frequently asked questions:

How will this affect the game?

First and foremost, they cover how this acquisition will affect the game. According to Mediatonic, "Your gameplay isn't changing and neither is our mission to bring Fall Guys to as many players as possible. Each season, we'll continue to expand the game with new content, features, rounds, and costumes."

They also state that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will continue to remain available for purchase on Steam and PlayStation, and will continue to be able to play and receive future updates. Mediatonic also mentions the continuation of the plans to bring the game to the Nintendo Switch and Xbox.

Free-to-play?

Mediatonic states that nothing is currently planned for this. But who knows? Rocket League recently went Free-to-play after Epic Games acquired Psyonix. So, it may be a possibility in the future!

How will this affect the community?

Mediatonic states that they love the Fall Guys community, and they will continue to be "super close" to the community.

It looks like Mediatonic chose Epic due to having "a lot in common and share a lot of the same goals."
