Final Fantasy XIV's next major patch, Patch 5.4, was recently detailed in a Live Letter from the Producer. For those who do not know what this is, the Producer, Naoki Yoshida, addresses upcoming updates, patches, changes, and other things to do with Final Fantasy XIV.
It was confirmed that the upcoming 5.4 patch would be released this December, and it is titled Futures Rewritten. This patch will introduce quite a few things for players to do and introduce the next epic adventure that the Warrior of Light will depart on. Square Enix notes, "Following the grand conclusion of the Shadowbringers story in Patch 5.3, players will set out on a new adventure."
An addition to the main story is not the only thing we will be getting. The third installment of the Eden Raid Series is also included in this patch and the next chapter of the Sorrow of Werlyt quests.
Other updates coming to the game include the Emerald Weapon. Players will be able to battle the Emerald Weapon in both Normal and Extreme difficulties. Included with the main story addition in 5.4 is a new dungeon, Matoya's Relic.
There is also something called Unreal trials that will be making their way into Final Fantasy XIV and an explorer mode that will allow players to run around instanced dungeons without having to worry about fighting monsters. Great for taking pictures and just checking out the scenery!
Square Enix also confirmed that the game would be available to play on the PlayStation 5. The PlayStation 5 will allow for faster loading times, and players will be able to use the PlayStation 4 Pro Display settings in-game.
