Final Fantasy XIV hopes to fix housing problem with 720 new plots + apartments

If you have played Final Fantasy XIV, and have never been able to get a house because of the lack of plots, now may be the time. In the next upcoming patch, 5.35, Square Enix will be adding 720 housing plots to each server. These plots will be accompanied by an apartment building added to each ward and subdivision.

Housing plots in the game will be limited to one per person, so if you already have one, you will not be able to reserve new ones, unless you are planning on switching your house's location.

Housing has always been an issue in the game, and it has been an ongoing battle with developers to provide enough housing plots for subscribers. But, with the limitation of how many plots the servers can handle, and the number of players who are currently playing the game, it is hard for everyone to acquire a housing plot. Especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, where travel restrictions have limited the deployment of upgrades to the actual hardware running each FFXIV server. You can read more about it in this blog post

With the addition of 720 housing plots and the apartment buildings that could house an additional 90 players each, Square Enix hopes that this could help fix the problem a bit and give players access to the game's housing system.

There is no set date for when patch 5.35 will release, but it is expected to be released in the next few weeks. So, if you do not have a house, but you want to get one, make sure you have the Gil ready and a calendar reminder set to get in the game right after the patch is released!
