Today, during Final Fantasy XIV's Letter from the Producer LIVE, we got a glimpse at upcoming content, changes, and additions that will be coming to the game when patch 5.3 releases on August 11th.

At the beginning of the stream, we found out that Final Fantasy XIV has hit the 20 million registered users milestone. A significant accomplishment for any MMORPG and it shows just how successful the game is.

The stream goes on to detail the upcoming patch, starting with a glimpse of the trailer, which you can watch below.

We are then given details on what we are to expect in the next expansion. We will be getting an extension to the current Shadowbringer's story, a new Nier raid, and an addition to the Sorrows of Werlyt storyline.

One of the most exciting things detailed during the Live letter is an update to the games free trial. Currently, free trial players can play the game up to level 35. With patch 5.3, those on a free trial will be able to play the game through the Heavensward expansion, raising the level cap that trial players can achieve to 60.

This is incredibly generous, as this gives players full access to the base game and the first expansion now. Free trial players will still have the other limitations that they currently have, but now they can progress farther in the game.

I am excited about this upcoming patch. Personally, I want to be able to fly in A Realm Reborn areas. It will make gathering easier in those areas!
