Mojang, the studio behind the award-winning block building adventure game Minecraft, has done a slight rebranding.
Mojang is now known as Mojang Studios. The announcement was made on 5/16, Minecraft's 11th birthday, and is a new chapter for the company behind Minecraft and the newly released Minecraft Dungeon.
Mojang started back in 2009 when Markus Persson released Minecraft. It was officially incorporated in 2010 as Mojang AB, and the company was acquired in 2014 by Microsoft and became part of the Microsoft Studios label. That is where it was until this recent announcement. Mojang Studios is now starting a new chapter in its life with studios in Sweden, the USA, Japan, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
Not only was it announced via an article on Minecraft's website, but they also released a video showcasing the new name, logo, and trailer of Mojang Studios.
With this new announcement, and what appears to be a hint at new plans the studio has for its games, and future games, I am excited to see what Mojang Studios will release in the future!
