Last year, Grinding Gear Games announced Path of Exile 2, the sequel to their successful dungeon-delving game, Path of Exile.
In a forum post announcement on June 24th, Bex from Grinding Gear Games announced that the sequel would, in fact, not be hitting Beta this year, and instead, we should expect it next year.
"When we announced Path of Exile 2 last year, we mentioned that the earliest an early Beta could occur might be late 2020. This is definitely not happening this year, due to significant schedule delays due to the pandemic. We have been focusing on keeping our leagues coming out as close to on time as possible, and this does mean some delays for the sequel. We are looking forward to our next announcement about its upcoming content, and we'll keep piling on any technology improvements we can make into the existing Path of Exile client. "
Looks like COVID-19 took another gaming victim. In this post, Bex also mentions how their seasons are usually on a 13-week cycle, meaning that we should see expansions every March, June, September, and December. However, The Harvest expansion/league took 14 weeks of development. This has caused Grinding Gear Games to shoot for a 12 week development time for the next expansion that they say will be a "much larger league than Harvest."
I am excited to see what the next league will bring to Path of Exile since currently, I am doing a Let's Play for the current Harvest League!
I am also excited about any new details they will announce about Path of Exile 2.
Are you currently playing the Harvest League? What are your thoughts?here.
