Phantasy Star Online 2: New Genesis, the sequel to Phantasy Star Online 2, will be getting a closed beta test sometime in 2021. Currently, the closed beta will only be available to those who have played the Japanese version of Phantasy Star Online 2 and will only be available on PC during the test.
This is because the closed beta will be held in Japan and require the need to transfer over characters from the Japanese version of the game. Characters on the global version of PSO2 will not be eligible.
The Closed Beta will test the importing of characters from the original game, testing the game data connectivity between the two games, and testing the quest progression systems.
Applications for the closed beta will end on January 4th, 2021. However, at this time, Sega has yet to announce the timeframe of when the closed beta will run. At this time, Sega has yet to announce a closed beta for the global audience.
