Stadia coming to Chromecast and Android TV devices on June 23rd

Google has announced that the Stadia application will be coming to the latest Chromecast with Google TV device and a handful of other Android TV devices this June 23rd.

The following devices will be officially supported for Stadia:

  • Chromecast with Google TV
  • Hisense Android Smart TVs (U7G, U8G, U9G)
  • Nvidia Shield TV
  • Nvidia Shield TV Pro
  • Onn FHD Streaming Stick and UHD Streaming Device
  • Philips 8215, 8505, and OLED 935/805 Series Android TVs
  • Xiaomi MIBOX3 and MIBOX4

If you have an Android TV device that is not listed above, you can opt into an experimental beta to play Stadia on unsupported devices.

According to Google, all you need to do to get started is downloading the Stadia Application from the Play Store, launching it from your "My Apps" row on your Android TV device, and press "continue" on the opt-in screen.

You will be able to use a Stadia controller or a compatible BlueTooth controller with your Android TV device. So, you are not limited to only having to use the Stadia controller, which is good!
