Every year, Steam has "awards" that they give out to games that have been voted for by the Steam Community. The games that receive the most votes in each category is considered the winner of the respective category.
Steam has officially announced the winners of each category, and they can be found below!
2020 Game of the Year
Winner - Red Dead Redemption II
"Maybe it was its immersive gameplay, or its gripping story... its well-crafted characters, immaculate design, or addictive multiplayer. Whatever the reason, the winner of 2020's Game of the Year Award is an instant classic."
Red Dead Redemption II won the 2020 Game of the Year rewards beating out games such as Hades, DOOM Eternal, Fall Guys, and Death Stranding.
2020 VR Game of the Year
Winner - Half-Life Alyx
"The VR Game of the Year isn't merely masquerading as regular reality. This game improves on reality, taking advantage of the medium of VR and pushing the boundaries of the virtual realm."
Half-Life Alyx won against games such as Phasmophobia, The Room VR, and Thief Simulator VR.
2020 Labor of Love
Winner - Counter Strike: Global Offensive
"This game has been out for a while. The team is well past the debut of their creative baby, but being the good parents they are, these devs continue to nurture and support their creation. This game, to this day, is still getting new content after all these years."
CS:GO won against games such as Among Us, Terraria, The Witcher Wild Hunt, and No Man's Sky.
2020 Better With Friends
Winner - Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout
"There are some games out there that just aren't the same when you play by yourself. Maybe you need to have a friend to watch your back. Maybe you need to have a friend that you can stab in their back. Either way, fun is awaiting those who gather friends together play this game."
Fall Guys won against games such as Sea of Thieves, Borderlands 3, Deep Rock Galactic, and Risk of Rain 2.
2020 Most Innovative Gameplay
Winner - Death Stranding

Death Stranding won against games such as Control, Superliminal, and Noita.
2020 Outstanding Story-Rich Game
Winner - Red Dead Redemption 2

Pulling off its second win this year, Red Dead Redemption II won against games such as Detroit: Become Human, Mafia, Metro Exodus, and Horizon Zero Dawn.
2020 Best Game You Suck At
Winner - Apex Legends

2020 Outstanding Visual Style
Winner - Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Will of the Wisps won against games such as Battlefield V, There is no Game, Marvel Avengers, and Black Mesa.
2020 Best Soundtrack
Winner - DOOM Eternal

DOOM Eternal won against games such as HALO: The Master Chief Collection, Helltaker, NFS Heat, and Persona 4 Golden.
2020 Sit Back and Relax
Winner - The Sims 4
"This game is the antidote to a busy day. It's smooth, it's relaxing, it lets your worries melt away. This game is your moment of zen."
The Sims 4 won against games such as Microsoft Flight Simulator, Satisfactory, Untitled Goose Game, and Factorio.
I agree with what the community voted for. A lot of the games above deserve the wins as well as the nominations. I am excited to see what games we will see in 2021 and what the 2021 Steam Awards will look like!
