Total War developer Creative Assembly decided to give out a little gift for their new game Total War Saga: Troy in collaboration with the Epic Games Store.
This gift is in the form of the game being free for the first 24 hours when it releases on August 13th, 2020, exclusively to the Epic Games Store. That is right. Everyone will be able to download the game completely free, and keep it if they download it within the first 24 hours!
Creative Assembly posted a rather lengthy blog post on why the game is releasing exclusively on the Epic Games Store for 12 months and will then release to Steam on August 13th, 2021.
Creative Assembly said that since they did not start Steam pre-orders yet, when Epic Games came to them with a commercial deal, including payment to make the game free for the first day, they decided that this would be the best way to experiment with releasing the game on a different platform other than Steam.

There are a few downsides to the game releasing on the Epic Games Store vs. Steam at this time. Epic Games Store does not have Mod support, and the games will not allow for cross-store multiplayer once the Steam version releases in 2021.
Will you be picking up your free edition of Total War Saga: Troy when it launches on August 13th?
