Path of Exile's new expansion, Echoes of the Atlas, brings some exciting additions to the popular free to play action role-playing game.
In Echoes of the Atlas, players gain more control over Path of Exile's end-game, allowing players to specialize each region of their Atlas with its own passive tree. Players can also craft Watchstones to refine rewards and now select up to ten map bosses to face simultaneously.
Oh, and there is a new bad guy, the Atlas' new pinnacle boss: The Maven.
These changes sound downright awesome for those that have reached the end-game of Path of Exile, and the player counts show it.
Since the release of the Echoes of the Atlas expansion, according to SteamDB, Path of Exile hit an all-time high of 157,103 simultaneous players on January 15th. This number is only Steam players. Path of Exile also has a standalone client that is outside of Steam. Thus, that number could be significantly more.
Each new season for Path of Exile usually brings in many players, especially those returning to the game to try out the new mechanics. Grinding Gear Games does not let its players down either with each season and expansion bringing fun new mechanics that keep players entertained. Echoes of the Atlas is no different!
Path of Exile is free to play and can be played through Steam or the standalone client from GGG.
