With the beta, many subscribers were invited, allowing them to play their favorite Xbox games on the browser and their iOS devices.
The limited access beta has been going on for just over two months, and Microsoft has finally announced that the beta is expanding to all Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers.
If you are one of the millions of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, you can head over to xbox.com/play on any chromium-based browser or Safari and get access to hundreds of games straight from the cloud to your PC/iOS device!
Microsoft also announces that "Xbox Cloud Gaming is now powered by custom Xbox Series X hardware."
This new hardware will allow for better graphical quality, improved performance, faster load times, and prep for next-generation games working on the cloud. Along with this hardware upgrade, Microsoft did mention that they will focus on streaming games at 1080p and up to 60fps, with other innovations and feature enhancements in the works for the future of Xbox Cloud Gaming.
"Cloud gaming provides seamless play across your devices. When you’re streaming games on a PC or mobile device, your game is playing from Xbox hardware in a Microsoft datacenter. This means you can jump into a game, connect with your friends, and play through the Xbox network just as you’ve always done. That’s right, your game saves are just the same wherever and whenever you play, so you can pick right back up from where you left off." - Catherine Gluckstein, Vice President & Head of Product, Xbox Cloud Gaming
Microsoft has previously confirmed that Xbox Cloud Gaming will be coming to their previous generation console. This will allow for the Xbox One to have an extended operating life and allow you, the consumer, to play next-gen games without needing a next-gen console!
