Bungie outlines plans for Destiny 2 over the next two years

The developers of Destiny 2, Bungie, detailed the future roadmap for their free-to-play shooter on Tuesday in a Twitch live stream that gave players a vast amount of news on what is to come to the game over the next few years.

They covered everything from support for the new console generation to the next three expansions over the next two years, giving the game life for at least until 2022.

Bungie originally released Destiny back in 2014. They followed a consistent update pattern until 2017 when Destiny 2 launched. Destiny 2 has been following the same consistent update pattern, however, we learned that Bungie currently does not have any plans to develop Destiny 3. Instead, they will be building on to Destiny 2 with three new expansions releasing this year, 2021 and 2022.

On top of the expansions, they will be introducing something called the Destiny Content Vault (DCV). The DCV is Bungie's way of cycling Destiny 2 content in and out of the game, allowing for players to access older content without needing the game to expand to the point that it is unbearable to maintain for Bungie.

Each year, less active content will be vaulted, and older content will be un-vaulted, allowing players to experience the content they may have missed or content they have not accessed in a while. This new feature allows for content to be continually played instead of being deserted if newer content is released.

Bungie announced that for the new generation consoles, Destiny 2 would support 60fps and 4K resolution compared to current generation consoles with 30fps and 1080p resolution. A nice jump, and promising advancement for the game!

You will also be able to upgrade your current Destiny 2 purchases for free to the next-gen consoles once they are available. Yep, that is right! Bungie is offering free upgrades to current owners of Destiny 2.

And lastly, the three new expansions that Bungie announced are this year's Beyond Light, 2021's The Witch Queen, and Lightfall in 2022. Each expansion will bring new content to the game, on top of the content that will cycle in via the Destiny Content Vault.

With all these awesome game announcements currently happening, how am I going to find time to play all these games!!!
