No Man's Sky Origin update expands the games universe and adds more features

No Man's Sky has had an interesting history. When the game launched, it was not well received. However, the developers, Hello Games, have gone through great lengths to expand on the game and make it what players have always been. The most recent update to the game is no different; in fact, it brings the game closer to what many wanted it to be back when it launched!

No Man's Sky Origin is the most recent update to hit the game. It brings with it a significant amount of changes that "effectively doubles the variety in the game." The new update brings with it a whole bunch of new planets, the addition of volcanoes, weather events, and new enemies.

Since most players have already spent a considerable amount of time in the game, Hello Games wanted to make sure that they limited the chance that these changes could affect players' progress. This is why new topography, like the volcanoes, will only be available on new planets. This limitation will prevent player bases from being corrupted or destroyed with the latest update.

In a statement to GameSpot, Hello Games' Head of Publishing, Tim Woodley, said "Completely overhauling the universe is a tricky and technical challenge at the best of times, more so when that universe is already semi-populated and colonized. Major changes to topography or other additions run the risk of nerfing people's finely honed bases and creations."

He goes on to state that "We wanted to re-capture that feeling of those early travelers who never really knew what was over the next hill, on the next planet, in the next star system."

Along with new planets and types of topography, you can experience new weather events throughout the game. This includes things such as meteor showers and tornadoes. To accompany these additions, Hello Games also made it so that weather acts as realistic as possible. This means that the weather will move around the planet, much like how weather moves around our planet today.

There is much more being added to the game as well. You can find wild robots that roam around planets or even alien-like buildings that could contain "data, treasure, and directions to long-forgotten ruins." You can also find new enemies like the giant sandworm on some planets! The list goes on and on.
