Steam places more restrictions on country switching

Valve has decided to make it more difficult for you to switch countries. This is to help prevent people from taking advantage of Steam's regional pricing when they do not live in said country.

To help prevent this, Valve has added more restrictions on its game distribution service, Steam. This update will add an extra layer of protection to prevent people from using VPNs to buy games at lower prices.

This was spotted by Steam Database and was posted in a tweet. The new restrictions require that you purchase a game using a payment method from the country before you can switch your country settings. Once a purchase has been made from said country, you will be able to change your country settings in Steam.

This change should hopefully prevent people from taking advantage of regional prices. However, some will still find a way to take advantage of the regional pricing, even with this new restriction.
